pupils making cards for Art Enterprise

As Part of St Hilda’s C. E. High Schools all school enterprise initiatives we have introduced an all school trade fair where each department in school works with a group of students to create a product or service related to the department which can be sold at the school trade fair on the 26th June.

Each department got to work right away but one group of year 8 pupils raced ahead of the rest and have been selling their product since December.  This group is known as the ‘Art Enterprise’ and is selling cotton bags printed with the pupils' own designs.  They have photographed all their own and fellow year 8’s art work and devised a catalogue of all the work.  These catalogues are available on-line for staff & students to choose the design they want and to then have it printed onto the bags.

To date they have sold over 40 bags, giving them a profit of more than £50 with the next batch due to roll out over the next few weeks.  They are also looking to expand their business and hope to be able to put some of their bags into local shops to sell for them.  It is also hoped that the catalogues will go on line within the school website where people can browse the catalogue and download a booking form to make their purchase.

They have also branched out and are now putting together handmade cards using the same artwork which launched on March 16th.
