Learning

The school teaches the National Curriculum in line with the Government's published schedule.

St. Hilda’s teaches girls in groups appropriate to their ability in five classes (S, R, C, D and M).

In English, Mathematics and Science the girls are taught in five sets during Key Stage 3 and in six sets during Key Stage 4.

Teaching groups are adjusted half-yearly on the basis of the girls’ performances.  The teaching groups/sets are decided after staff rather than parental consultation.

Where appropriate, girls’ special educational needs (SEN) are met under the supervision of the school’s SEN co-ordinator.
