Food and Nutrition
General Information
Pupils are taught the skills of cooking within the home, with emphasis upon practical skills, good hygiene practice and the safe use of  kitchen equipment.
Key Stage 3 Information
Pupils are encouraged to enjoy learning how to cook in the kitchen and gain confidence in their own practical abilities.
Pupils learn to cook for their families and are taught with an emphasis on healthy eating and having fun tasting and cooking food.
Food is taught for eight weeks each year on the Technology carousel.
Key Stage 4 Information
Students study in-depth nutrients, special diets, kitchen equipment, the role of the consumer, preservation and healthy eating. Pupils regularly cook to extend their culinary skills and choose an assignment for their food coursework.
