Refurbishment

Refurbishment
Back

17 March 2009

Holidays for pupils and students give St. Hilda’s the chance to continue with refurbishments, upgrades and maintenance of the premises.

Following the refurbishment last summer of all six Science Laboratories, we have also refurbished the 6th Form girls’ toilet block during February half term. This programme of updating, improving and renewing will extend to other toilet blocks around the school. A number of areas will be painted during the Easter break.

During the summer holidays – hopefully in 2009 if funding allows – we hope to upgrade and freshen a number of specialist classrooms.

Our constant endeavour is to maintain the school premises to a good standard, creating an effective, pleasant working environment for all. To this end, over £300,000 was spent on improvement and refurbishment during 2008. As we are a Voluntary Aided School, the Governors are required to contribute 10% of most capital projects: last year this totalled over £24,000.

Parents who contribute through the Gift Aid scheme and covenants are a vital part of this work: our sincere thanks to all of you, as without your generosity much of this work could not take place.
